It’s been a long time coming, but I’ve finally put together a new show!

In this new show, I present a rich tapestry of music, spanning timeless classics, romantic melodies, vibrant gypsy tunes, and my own unique compositions… Fiddler on the Roof, When I Fall in Love, The Hot Canary, etc.

The idea was to focus on romantic and nostalgic melodies, both popular and classical, that have enchanted audiences for centuries… music from the quintessential masters, blending classic appeal with expressive touch. I envisage a personal journey, engaging and intimate, blending emotion, virtuosity, and convivial humor, allowing the audience to connect deeply with the music.

The first performance of this show will take place on December 19 at Currumbin RSL Club at 12 noon… a matinee show including a two-course lunch. I hope to see you there!

For more information about the Currumbin show and for bookings, visit Martin Lass at Currumbin RSL.

I’ve recently started playing with the Gold Coast Chamber Orchestra (GCCO) (QLD, Australia). Check out their Facebook page. I’m absolutely loving it, as it brings me back to my origins in classical music when I played with the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) in its inception years.

I’ve also been writing a lot more music these days since getting a publishing deal with Wirripang, the home of Australian Composers. Much of it is art music, but I’ve also started writing more music for student string orchestras.

I continue to teach, which I love, but I’m probably overdoing it with over 100 students(!), both at a school where I work (Hillcrest Christian College) and at my home studio.

I continue to have thoughts about a new album. It’s certainly on my radar, but I’m so busy with other things that it keeps getting pushed to the background.

I also continue to think about new performance opportunities after the years of lull after COVID. I’ve been thinking how to incorporate this with the Gold Coast Chamber Orchestra that I mentioned above. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, I continue my literary efforts, a new book almost to the point of completion. Announcement shortly!

So, that’s where I am now. Thanks for reading!

I know it’s been a very long time since I posted anything here! I’ve been so busy up until recently with my music and teaching that it’s been hard to find a moment to sit down and put fingers to the keys. As we all know, it’s been a changing world in the last two years, for better or worse. Many challenges, set-backs, and hurdles to overcome. Despite all the uncertainty and the changing times, one thing is still certain: we still need music. In fact, we need music more now than at any other time in living memory. It’s the one thing that keeps so many of us alive and sane, including me! So, I continue to play my music where I can and write in between this and my teaching. There are some new songs and entire albums on the horizon, I’m pleased to say! So, stay tuned (bad pun!), and, in the meantime, you can still find lots of my music on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and other video and audio music platforms.

Until next time…
